i know most people hate helmet laws, but i don't want my taxes to end up paying for your head injuries if you're too dumb to wear one.
think of it this way- fall off your ride and you get to spend the rest of your days as a veggie in the coma ward. how appealing is that?

How can anything that is so restrictive be good. It takes away from the free feeling of riding. Only the west coast has these laws and someone should hang for their political standing on this issue just to get votes. They obviously don't ride...

It's good because it'll save your ass when you take a spill. If you've ever fallen and gotten a concussion, you'd know what I mean.

I ride daily, and I support helmet laws. I want to be there for my kids when they grow up, not have them visiting my gravesite because some senior citizen didn't see me while he was changing lanes or because I was too stupid to wear a helmet.
There aren't any helmet laws in Russia, maybe you should go ride there.

Do you know why helmets can't be worn while driving an automobile? They're illegal because they restrict the user's sight and hearing. Now add the heat, in some climates, and the neck strain of helmets and its a no-brainer that a responsible adult should have a choice. I tend to support a helmet law requiring minors and 18-21 year olds, without a safety course, to wear helmets. And I tend to recommend that all riders wear a helmet when they deem it appropriate: rain and cold wx are examples for me. Helmet law advocates are the same ones who think that police traffic stops without probable cause are a good way to legislate public conduct and don't infringe on personal rights. Wait 'til bleeding hearts pass the Housing Safety Law and the police come to your door and into your home for a routine compliance check to "ensure public safety".
